SAMPLE NATION LIVE: A Night of Sample Knowledge

Where: The Great Eastern (103 Trafalgar Ct, Brighton)
When: Friday 20th, 8pm - 12:30am
How Much: FREE ENTRY

Join me at Sample Nation Live, a night dedicated to the art of sampling, where digging culture and hip-hop heritage collide! Based on my ITCH.FM radio show, Sample Nation, I’ll be spinning an extensive selection from my personal collection of classic UK and US Hip-Hop original samples. A mix of timeless funk, soul, and rare, strange breaks.

While I won’t be giving any sample breakdowns, feel free to shout out if you recognize where a beat comes from! It's all about enjoying the music, sharing knowledge, and connecting with the sounds that have defined hip-hop culture across the decades.

Expect to hear samples that laid the foundation for tracks by US legends like:
Rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, Slick Rick, Gang Starr, N.W.A, Run-D.M.C., EPMD, Ice-T, LL Cool J, Boogie Down Productions, Queen Latifah, The Pharcyde, Jungle Brothers, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Biz Markie, MC Lyte, Ultramagnetic MCs, The D.O.C., Brand Nubian, Black Sheep, and The Geto Boys.

And UK gems from artists like:
Task Force, Roots Manuva, Jehst, Skinnyman, Blak Twang, Klashnekoff, Phi Life Cypher, Foreign Beggars, Lowlife Records, High Focus, Braintax, Lewis Parker, Mystro, Kyza, and Rodney P.

It’s going to be a night of deep grooves, rich history, and pure vinyl joy. Come down, bring your hip-hop knowledge, and be ready to vibe to the sounds that have shaped a culture!
